Bhubaneswar: The Congress on Wednesday welcomed the Odisha Lokayukta’s decision to order a Vigilance probe into the multi-crore scam in the purchase of PPE kits by the Odisha government.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik stated that apart from Industries secretary and former head of the state-level purchase committee Hemant Sharma, and the Managing Director of Odisha State Medical Corporation Ltd (OSMCL) Yamini Sarangi, members of Emergency Purchase Committee, Ministerial level committee and Cabinet sub-committee are also involved in the scam.
“As the PPE kits and masks were purchased through the Emergency Purchase Committee with the proposal of cabinet sub-committee, recommendation by ministerial level committee and approval by the State Cabinet, all members of these two committees and State Cabinet will come under the purview of the Vigilance probe,” he added.
