Congress Leader Blames BJP For Delhi Violence, Demands Shah’s Resignation

Bhawanipatna: Senior Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das said that BJP is responsible for killing innocent people in Delhi on the CAA issue and demanded resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah.

His remarks came in the wake of 38 people getting killed in Delhi violence and soon after Amit Shah visited Odisha on Friday and chaired the Eastern Zonal Council (ECZ) meeting.

Das said that Shah’s visit was intended to congregate the states on the CAA issue and nothing else. “The central government is not focusing on the common people rather it has begun the divide and rule policy, which is impacting general lives,” he said.

Das told a press conference that a KBK Kandhamal Autonomous Council (with 10 backward districts) has been formed where all the political parties, citizens, lawyers have been invited to share their views.

The council will focus on the issue of backward regions where water, electricity, health, education, roads and communication have been lacking since independence. He said that the KBK region in Odisha has reached the rank of  above 400 out of 622 districts as per records of National Survey, which is shameful for all.

Sonepur ranks 411, Rayagada 465, Bolangir 531, Kalahandi 548, Koraput 541, Kandhamal 551, Nabarangpur 574, Malkangiri 588.

Bhakta blamed the BJD government saying that tribals are yet to get pattas on their home land at Niyamgiri hills. The BJD supremo focused on the industrialists and poor people became victims. He also blamed the BJD MLAs and MPs saying they are not taking the views of local people who are inefficient in voicing in the Assembly and Parliament.

Das said that if all these districts are to be improved, more than one-third of the budget should be allocated by the Centre and the autonomous council comprising 10 districts would give a proposal to the government for its development.
