Congress Leader Narasingha Mishra Slams Odisha Govt Over Inauguration Of ‘Incomplete’ Lower Suktel Project

Balangir: Senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra on Wednesday lashed out at the Odisha government in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the inauguration of the much-awaited Lower Suktel Irrigation Project in Balangir.

Mishra, who is the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader, claimed that the state government decided to dedicate the project to the people though it is yet to be completed.

The Rs 2723 crore project was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at a grand function attended by a host of dignitaries, including Narasingha Mishra.

Speaking at the event from the dais, the senior Congress leader came down heavily on the Odisha government, claiming that the project is still incomplete.

Stating that the project was conceptualised in 1998, he said the Chief Minister had laid the foundation stone for the project in 2001 and it is yet to be completed even after 23 years.

“The incomplete project has been inaugurated today. It would have been appropriate if the project was inaugurated after its completion,” said Mishra.

While something is better than nothing, it would have been better if the project was inaugurated after completion, the Congress leader said, and sought to know what is the meaning of the inauguration of the project if there is no water in the dam.
