Cuttack: Amid reports that Oidsha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s cousin Dilip Patnaik is seriously ill, Congress leader and MLA Mohammed Moquim reached out to him and enquired about his health condition on Tuesday.
The Barabati-Cuttack MLA met Dilip Patnaik at his residence near Biju Patnaik Chhak in Tulasipur area of the millennium city of cuttack after learning about his illness.
Dilip Patnaik is the son of George Patnaik, elder brother of legendary leader and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik, father of CM Naveen Patnaik. Dilip and Naveen are paternal cousins.
Visionary Biju Patnaik had two brothers – George Patnaik and Srijeyananda Patnaik.
Moquim met Dilip at his residence, Anand Bhawan in Tulasipur area. Dilip, who retired from service around 25 years ago, lives with sister Rekha in a portion of Anand Bhawan.
Dilip, who has been ill for a long time following a road mishap, lamented over lack of support from his cousin Naveen.
He even claimed that he was not invited when Naveen Patnaik and his brother Prem Patnaik donated the Anand Bhawan to the state in 2015 to establish a memorial museum and a learning centre.
Recalling that he along with Naveen used to eat, play and sleep together at Anand Bhawan, Dilip said what hurts the most is that Naveen has not kept any relation with anyone though he is doing a lot for the state.
Dilip’s financial condition is also not good and his health condition is deteriorating after meeting with accident.
Speaking high of the CM, Rekha said Naveen visited them after the death of her mother. Stating that Naveen had spoken to her after becoming Chief Minister, she said he has been good to her.
