Jeypore: Koraput district Congress on Wednesday observed ‘black day’ on the completion of one year of the sensational Kunduli gang rape and suicide.
“The party members will hold a condolence meeting at Kunduli, where a minor girl was gang-raped by four men in uniform while she was on her way back home after school. They later staged a demonstration in front of the district collector’s office, seeking justice for the victim’s family. We will visit the native place of the victim and hold a discussion with her family members,” said Koraput MLA, Krushna Chandra Sagaria.
The state government has failed in providing justice to the girl, forcing her to commit suicide in January this year as she was under severe mental stress, the MLA added.
A case under Sections 376 (D) and 377 of IPC and Sections 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered in this connection.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had also ordered a judicial probe into the incident.
