New Delhi: Congress party on Saturday took a jibe at the central government a day after Union Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan claimed that fuel prices will come down once the winter season is over.
“Strange.. Is Petrol & LPG seasonal fruits?” Congress leader Dr Ajoy Kumar tweeted.
On Friday, news agency had quoted Pradhan as saying: “Increase in petroleum price in the international market has affected consumers too. Prices will come down a little as winter goes away. It’s an international matter, price is high due to increase in demand, it happens in winter. The price will come down as the season ends.”
The price of petrol has crossed Rs 100 per litre mark in several cities, while an LPG cylinder now costs around Rs 800.
There has been protests all over the country by Opposition parties, with leaders riding scooty, auto-rickshaw or bicycle to make their point.
