Bhubaneswar: As part of its 11-day protest against hike in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG, Congress workers took out a cycle rally in the city on Wednesday.
Led by MLA Suresh Routray and senior leader Pradeep Majhi, they started the rally from the party office and went to Ram Mandir, raising slogans against the Central and state governments. The hike in petroleum prices has not only affected the common man but also led to rise in consumer goods, they said demanding its immediate roll-back.
The party had called for the statewide protest from July 7 to 17 and appealed to the consumers not to buy petroleum products on July 15. On the final day of the protest, it will hold a signature campaign at petrol pumps.
Meanwhile, the Left parties has called for a 6-hour Odisha Bandh over rising prices of petrol, diesel and essential commodities on July 15. The Congress has extended its support to the bandh.
