Congress To Announce Chhattisgarh CM Tomorrow

New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi seems to be playing the tweet strategy to put up an united front really well.

Hinting at an end to the Chhattisgarh CM impasse after several rounds of talks, Rahul on Saturday tweeted a photograph with senior Congress leaders. This time, he quoted Reid Hoffman.

Bhupesh Baghel, TS Singh Deo, Tamradhwaj Sahu and Charan Das Mahant, seen in the picture with Rahul, are said the front-runners for the top post in Chhattisgarh, which Congress won with a thumping majority by winning 68 of the 90 seats.

An official announcement on the next chief minister will be made on Sunday, Chhattisgarh Congress state in-charge PL Punia told ANI news agency.

“A meeting will be held at 12 pm tomorrow. Then we will inform (Chief Minister candidate for Chhattisgarh). Governor has given us the time of 4:30 pm on December 17 for the oath ceremony. So what’s the hurry?,” he said.

The Congress president had done the same while picking the chief ministers for Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, where factionalism came out in the open. However, the old guards won the battle of nerves and Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sachin Pilot made way for Kamal Nath and Ashok Ghelot for the top job in the two states respectively.

Pilot was appointed deputy CM of Rajasthan.

After his decision on Madhya Pradesh, Rahul quoted Tolstoy’s “The two most powerful warriors are patience and time” with a photo of him flanked by Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia.

“The united colours of Rajasthan,” he tweeted, along with a photograph with Gehlot and Pilot, the following day before making the announcement.

The Congress wrested the three states from the BJP in the recent Assembly elections. But picking the CMs of these states proved to be a headache for Rahul, who was joined by mother and former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Vadra in the effort to build a consensus on the candidates.
