Bhubaneswar: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has urged Chemicals & Fertiliser Minister J P Nadda for establishment of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER) in Odisha.
In a letter to Nadda, he stated that this initiative will significantly contribute to the growth of pharmaceutical and biotech sectors in Eastern India.
“Odisha Biotech Park in Bhubaneswar is the first-of-its-kind facility in Eastern India with access to water, electricity, effluent treatment and all other facilities required for establishment of biotechnology industries and allied service sectors. It offers an ideal environment for the establishment of NIPER. It will not only address the educational and research gaps in pharmaceutical disciplines but also promote innovation and skilled workforce development, thus enhancing India’s global competitiveness in the pharmaceutical sector,” he wrote.
Dharmendra further stated that establishment of NIPER in Odisha will help to achieve the objective of PLI Scheme in the pharmaceutical sector while realising the goal of Atmanibhar Bharat. “I take this opportunity to request you to look into the matter at your personal level to consider Odisha as the next location for NIPER,
which will contribute significantly to India’s pharmaceutical education and research,” he added.
