Cuttack: A police constable has been arrested by the Cantonment Police after being accused of misconduct and attempted sexual assault of a female sanitation worker in Odisha’s Cuttack city.

e incident took place near Rural Police Reserve Inspector’s office at Buxi Bazaar on Wednesday evening.
According to sources, the woman was performing her cleaning duties when the police constable, identified as Paresh Kumar Nayak, allegedly misbehaved and attempted to assault her. Following the incident, the victim raised an alarm. Nearby sanitation workers rushed to the spot upon hearing her screams, overpowered the accused constable, and reportedly thrashed him.
Upon receiving information, personnel from the Cantonment police station reached the spot, rescued the constable, and took him into custody. Based on the formal complaint filed by the victim, the accused was subsequently arrested and forwarded to court.
Nayak was reportedly deployed at the Reserve Office. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
