Bhubaneswar: Construction sites for two multi-storey buildings in Odisha capital have been sealed for alleged violation of lease rules and approved building plans.
While one of the sealed buildings was an apartment under construction at Bharatpur, the other one was a star hotel project at Delta Square. The enforcement officials of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) sealed the two properties on Tuesday morning.
The developers, who were allotted government land on lease, not only failed to complete the works in a time-bound manner but also deviated from the approved construction plans. The hotel project was also attempting to encroach on government land which is nearby. Further there were other lapses including. non-compliance to certain lease rules, media reports said.
“We had served notices to the owners of the two properties around 15 days ago, asking them to stop the construction work and file a show-cause on their violations, however, since no replies were received from either of them, we have sealed the buildings,” BDA joint commissioner Sweta Kumar Dash told TOI.
Fines will also be imposed on them, officials added.
