Paradip: A container loaded with diesel and two trucks were reduced to ashes after a major fire broke out near Paradip in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district early on Wednesday.
According to sources, the container was reportedly carrying illegal diesel when the fire erupted all of a sudden in the early hours.
After being informed, fire services personnel from Kujang and Paradip rushed to the spot. However, by the time they arrived, the vehicles had been badly damaged.
The firefighters doused the flames. The fire was extinguished after three hours of relentless efforts, but the vehicles were completely gutted, sources said.
While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the incident has brought to the fore the rampant business of stolen diesel and petrol in the area.
Following the incident, a team police team from Kujang visited the site and launched an investigation.
