Phulbani: The COVID-19 tally in Kandhamal district surged to 1299 on Saturday with 98 new positive cases being reported in the last 24 hours.
According to the district administration, 17 cases were reported from Kotagarh, 14 from Tumudibandh, 13 from Phulbani, 12 from Daringbadi, nine from Chakapad, eight from Baliguda, seven from G. Udaygiri, six from Raikia, five from Tikabali, three from Phiringia and two each from Khajuripada and K. Nuagaon.

The highest of 73 cases were reported from containment zones, 20 were local contact cases, four from COVID care homes and one from outside.
