Bhubaneswar: A contractor was allegedly shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Tangi area of Odisha’s Khurda district. The incident took place at Chandeswar Square under the jurisdiction of Tangi police station late on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Rout, a resident of Radhamohanpur.
According to sources, Ramesh along with two of his friends had been out for work when two miscreants on a motorcycle intercepted them and fired at Ramesh, who died on the spot.
The assailants fled the scene immediately after committing the crime.
Police personnel rushed to the spot and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants. The reason behind the killing is yet to be ascertained. Investigation into the incident is in progress.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased have demanded a thorough probe into the incident.
