Bhubaneswar: A contractor was allegedly shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Tangi area of Odishaâ
s Khurda district. The incident took place at Chandeswar Square under the jurisdiction of Tangi police station late on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Rout, a resident of Radhamohanpur.
According to sources, Ramesh along with two of his friends had been out for work when two miscreants on a motorcycle  intercepted them and fired at Ramesh, who died on the spot.
The assailants fled the scene immediately after committing the crime.
Police personnel rushed to the spot and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants. The reason behind the killing is yet to be ascertained. Investigation into the incident is in progress.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased have demanded a thorough probe into the incident.
