Contractor Shot Dead By Maoists In Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: A contractor was allegedly shot dead by the members of CPI (Maoists) near Paji Bahali under Bijepur police station limits in Kalahandi district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Shiba Shankar Dash alias Tunu.

According to available information, Dash had gone to supervise road construction work at a site and distribute wages to the labourers when a group of armed ultras reached the spot and fired indiscriminately at him. He was killed on the spot.

Being informed regarding the incident, police and Dash’s family members rushed to the spot.

“We have started investigation into the matter. No arrests have so far been made. Search and combing operations have been intensified in the locality”, a senior police officer informed.
