Bhubaneswar: Alleging disengagement and salary cut, contractual employees of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, staged a demonstration on Thursday and demanded job regularisation.
The protesters, who locked the main gate of the premier healthcare institute and held a sit-in, alleged that the contractual employees are being disengaged from service by the contractor in an arbitrary manner.
They further alleged that the contractor has been deducting money from the salaries of the contractual staff in an illegal manner.
No senior official of the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, was immediately available for comment.
Highlighting their plight, the protesters urged the authorities concerned to take steps for refund of the deducted amount as early as possible.
They also sought steps for reinstatement of the employees who have been disengaged by the contractor, and ESI, EPF, bonus and other benefits to the contractual staff.
Seeking steps for regularisation of their jobs, the agitating contractual employees said there should be equal pay for equal work. They said the authorities should provide them with the benefits as per the labour laws.
