Bhubaneswar: A havildar of the Commissionerate Police was critically injured after being hit by a speeding auto-rickshaw at Kalpana Square on Saturday.
The injured havildar, Saroj Pradhan, was immediately taken to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for treatment. His condition is stated to be critical.
According to police, the accident took place while Pradhan was on duty during the weekend shutdown. He tried to stop an autorickshaw but the driver sped away with his vehicle after hitting him.
On being informed, Laxmisagar police rushed to the spot and admitted Pradhan to the AIIMS.
Police later detained the autorickshaw driver for interrogation.
