Bhadrak A sub-inspector (SI), serving at Bhadrak Town police station, has been arrested following serious allegations of physical and mental torture levelled against him by his wife
The accused cop has been identified as Ganganath Sethi.
According to the complainant, SI Sethi had repeatedly subjected her to physical assault and severe mental harassment. Family members and senior police officials had reportedly attempted to mediate and resolve the issue on multiple occasions, even reaching written compromise agreements previously. However, despite these interventions, the officer allegedly continued to torture his wife, prompting her to approach the police station.
Following a written complaint, senior police officers initiated a thorough inquiry into the matter. After initial investigation substantiated the victim’s claims, officers proceeded to register a case and arrest the Sub-Inspector.
Sethi, who has served across various police stations in the Bhadrak district over the past several years, had been posted at the Bhadrak Town police station for the last few months.
Meanwhile, department sources indicated that stringent administrative and disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against the accused SI.
