Bhubaneswar: Actor-turned politician Anubhav Mohanty has dispensed Rs 1.05 crore from his MPLAD funds for purchase of necessary equipment for fighting COVID-19 in the state.
The BJD MP informed this in a letter to Kendrapara Collector Samarth Verma on Friday.
The funds will be utilized for the purchase of testing and screening kits and other equipment to keep people of his constituency safe from coronavirus.
Mohanty asked the Collector to utilize Rs 75 lakh for Kendrapara district and Rs 30 lakh for Cuttack under his parliamentary constituency.
Expressing concern that the COVID-19 outbreak might get more severe in the coming days, the MP urged the Collector to consider his letter as “most urgent”. He also asked the latter to take necessary steps at the earliest so that both the districts could be made ready to deal with any eventuality.
