New Delhi: With a cumulative total of 236,657 coronavirus cases, India surpassed Italy to become the 6th worst affected country by the infection on Saturday.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the country saw the highest single-day spike of 9,887 new cases, taking the tally of active cases to 115,942. The death toll on Saturday stood at 6,642, with 294 new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.
So far, 114,073 persons have been cured/discharged, the ministry said.
