Berhampur: At the time of COVID-19, friends and relatives seem to have turned their back on the families having corona positive case even if a member dies due to different cause.
A man of Kabisuryanagar in Ganjam district died of heart attack on Thursday soon after his son tested positive for coronavirus and was sent to COVID Hospital in an ambulance. But no friends or relatives came to his house for cremation apparently in fear of contamination of coronavirus.
Four youths of the area arranged Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) from Kabisuryanagar BDO Basudev Nayak, took the body in an auto-rickshaw and performed the cremation.
Two days ago, a youth of Kabisuryanagar, who was selling ‘papad’ for livelihood, died on the way to COVID Hospital. In his case also, neither friends nor relatives turned up for the cremation. His body was taken to Dhanei river by two people and buried on the river bed with the help of a JCB machine.
