Bhubaneswar: The State Government’s ambulance service, which has drawn flak on many occasions for negligence, failed again. It did not come to the rescue of a pregnant woman of a village in Jajpur district which is under containment zone.
The woman of Bainsiri village in Bari block of the district felt uneasy in the morning leading her family members to call on 108 ambulance service. But the person who received the call refused to send the ambulance to the village.
When the family approached the local sarpanch, the latter told them to make their own arrangement, said one of the relatives of the woman. As her uneasiness increased, the relatives arranged a trolley to carry her to the nearest health centre.
The local ASHA worker alleged that it has been a regular affair in the village. Despite repeated complaints to the authorities, the 108 ambulance service remains elusive for the villagers till date.
While the villagers could not figure out why the ambulance was not coming to Bainsiri, they apprehended that the situation may worsen as one of the villagers has tested corona positive and the village is under containment zone.
