Corona Update: Biggest Spike In Deaths, Fresh Cases In 24 Hours, Total Tally Crosses 1.73 Lakh

New Delhi: India recorded its highest-single day spike in both coronavirus cases and death toll linked to the virus.

With 7,964 fresh infections and 265 new deaths, the COVID-19 tally in the country touched 173,763-mark. Besides, 4,971 people have succumbed to the deadly virus so far, according to data available on the health ministry’s website till 8 am on Saturday.

Among the states, Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected with 62,228 total cases followed by Tamil Nadu (20,246) and Delhi (17,386), the ministry reported.

Meanwhile, about 10,000 people were cured of the deadly virus on Friday taking the total recoveries to 82,369, it added.
