Bhubaneswar: Odisha has surpassed the national average of conducting coronavirus tests of 983 persons per 10 lakh population by performing 1,155 tests per 10 lakh population. Total 50,000 tests have been completed in the State till date.
Giving this information, Shalini Pandit, Director National Health Mission on Thursday said from one laboratory for testing the virus, the State now has 8 labs which are capable of conducting 8,000 tests daily. The Odisha Government plans to open 11 new laboratories in different parts of the state to ramp up the testing capacity.
Out of 50,000 tests in the State, Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) has done 26,328 tests and found 160 positive cases.
According to official sources, 39,765 people have returned to Odisha from other states. They include 4,225 persons who arrived today. Total 12,416 health centres have been opened with over 5 lakh beds in 6,798 panchayats for the returnees, the sources said.
