Coronavirus Alert: Branch Post Offices In Odisha To Remain Closed Till March 29

Bhubaneswar: The precautionary measure against the coronavirus, the Department of Post of the Ministry of Communication has decided to close down all branch post offices in the state from Tuesday till March 29. The step has been taken in taking note of the fact that the postal service in Odisha has been severely affected by the suspension of flight and trains services and the lockdown in 14 districts and 10 urban local bodies (ULBs).

In a release on Monday, the Department of Posts said that the branch post offices of category B and C will remain closed while the headquarters office and larger branches will operate with 50 per cent staff. Though the Railway Mail Service (RMS) post offices will also remain closed, two staff will be on duty for emergency work.

The release said that the Foreign Post Office (FPO), nodal delivery centres (NDC) at the head post offices and the night post office (NPO) will also remain closed.
