Coronavirus Alert In Odisha: HC Suspends Listing Of Cases Till March 31

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Monday suspended listing of cases from March 23 and till March 31 in the wake of the lockdown ordered by the Odisha government to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The court said that only extremely urgent matters can be mentioned to the Deputy Registrar (Judicial) through WhatsApp message or video call.

It also directed the HC Registry to ensure that a vehicle and a doctor along with a medical team shall remain available 24X7 and deploy staff on rotation considering the need of the work.

Besides, the High Court in a circular to the lower courts in the locked-down districts and the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to function with less staffs for one hour from 12 pm to 1 pm and only deal with important cases like bail and remand.

For the lower court in the districts and the remaining ULBs where the lockdown order has not been enforced, the working hours will be for two hours from 12 pm to 2 pm till March 31.

The High Court has directed these lower courts to ensure no large gathering of people during the working hours.
