Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday urged residents to finish shopping during daytime as all major daily markets in the Odisha capital have been directed to down shutters after 6 pm from Thursday.
The markets that will remain open from 6 am to 6 pm include Unit-2, Unit-4, Unit-8, Saheed Nagar haat, Damana haat, Ruchika market and ID market, among others.
Meanwhile, a special joint teams of BMC and BDA along with police carried out surprise visits at hotels to check whether they are adhering to the SOPs issued by the civic body as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.
The BMC had earlier ordered for all parks in Bhubaneswar to stay open for a limited period of time from 6 AM – 2 PM. Play equipment and open-air gym, however, have been closed.
It had also advised the citizens to maintain one-metre distance among themselves to avoid the spread of the virus.
