Bhubaneswar: Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in India surged to 40 after five patients in Kerala and one more in Tamil Nadu tested positive on Sunday.
The virus has spread its tentacles to Ladakh, where two persons tested positive on Friday.
A techie from Hyderabad, one from Ghaziabad, 16 from Delhi, six from Agra, two Italian tourists from Jaipur and a Paytm employee in Gurugram have tested positive for the virus so far.
Globally, the total deaths due to coronavirus has reached 3,600.
Amid chaotic buying of masks and hand sanitizers, Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has imposed a ban on the sale of N95 respirators without valid prescriptions.
Health experts have reiterated that N95 masks are required only for healthcare works and normal masks can be used by those coughing or diseased. The general public doesn’t need it. So is the case for alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Soap and water for 20 seconds are enough.
The government has asked people to be careful and report if sick and not to use public transport if infected.
