Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) on Monday started disinfecting all Mo buses with INFEKTOCIDE, an eco-friendly high-level surface and environment disinfectant.
Authorities are using fogging, spraying and mopping methods to disinfect. Seats, support poles, door handles, arm rests and bar handles will be cleaned everyday with alcohol-based disinfectants. The process will be effective in fumigating bacteria including MRSA, TBC, yeast and enveloped viruses.
Cleaning and disinfection will be done every day. The buses will be cleaned after their last trips, post 10pm. The cleanliness and disinfection work will be verified by depot managers before they start their journey for the day.
“To contain coronavirus, additional cleaning measures have been put in place to disinfect all the Mo buses and Bus Queue Shelters (BQS). We have taken expert advise and identified agencies to fumigate the buses. Suitable technical instructions have been issued to create awareness among the cleaning personnel who work in the depot to sanitise buses properly. Poles and doors on buses, which people touch regularly will also be wiped with disinfectant every day,” said General Manager CRUT, Dipti Mahapatro.
“At the same time, we have started sanitisation of all the BQS with the same disinfectant. Among other measures, coronavirus awareness posters have been put up at the depots and all the buses urging citizens to adapt the basic hygienic methods. “We have put up instructions and advisories shared by the Health Department in all the 200 buses,” informed Mahapatro.
Announcements are being made via the public announcement system on board the buses to spread awareness. All employees have been made aware of preventive steps to be taken, including hand hygiene and reporting sickness.
