The doctors in Australia are exploring the possibility of coronavirus spreading through farts, after reports claim that the virus is found in the stools of the affected people.
Dr. Norman Swan, host and producer of ‘Coronacast’, a podcast of Australian Broadcasting Corporation advised the people not to fart near others, besides telling the protective features of pants, shorts, dresses, underwear and other garments.
“Luckily, we wear a mask, which covers our farts all the time,” Swan said in the podcast.
Moreover, Australian emergency physician Dr. Andy Tagg took to twitter asking a similar question and presenting some facts related to the possibility of virus spreading through farts.
Referring to a recent study on post-flush toilet emission, Tagg deliberated on whether farting is an ‘aerosol-generating procedure’ as the coronavirus can be transmitted through aerosolized feces.
Besides this, many COVID-19 patients have gastrointestinal problem which suggests that the virus is contained in their GI tract and could lead to further spread.
However, Tagg said that there is not enough evidence about the spread of the virus while passing gas.
