Bhubaneswar: With death toll due to infectious coronavirus touching 630, the Odisha Health Department on Friday issued guidelines for schools to create awareness about it among the students.
The school authorities have been directed to encourage students to adopt personal hygiene like use of hand sanitisers and covering face with handkerchief while coughing and sneezing.
“Fever, cough and difficulty in breathing are the symptoms of coronavirus. Currently, there is no specific treatment or vaccine for coronavirus infections. So prevention is better than cure,” read the advisory.
Block Education Officers (BEOs) and District Education Officers (DEOs) have been asked to review the precautionary measures being implemented in the schools.
Special Secretary, Health department, Dr Hara Patnaik said adequate measures are being taken at airport and ports. “There has been no positive case of coronavirus in Odisha so far. We are keeping a close watch on all overseas travellers, particularly those from China and Hong Kong, arriving in the state,” said Patnaik.
