Bhubaneswar: To stay safe from the infectious COVID-19, people are choosing to stay at home rather than travelling and falling sick. According to reports, the East Coast Railways (ECoR) has witnessed cancellation of more than 1 lakh tickets in the last six days.
The cancellations done this year are nearly 67 percent more than those done during the same period last year.
The cancellations done all over India amount to nearly 80 percent.
As the ECoR is witnessing a major fall in passengers because of cancellations following coronavirus scare, the department has cancelled 10 special trains in the zone.
Here’s a list of trains that have been cancelled temporarily:
1. 08501/08502 Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad-Visaskhapatnam Special will be cancelled from Visakhapatnam on March 17, 24 and 31 and from Secunderabad, it will remain cancelled on April 1, 18 and 25.
2. 08573/08574 Visakhapatnam-Tirupati-Visakhapatnam Special will be cancelled from Visakhapatnam on March 23 and 30 and from Tirupati, it will remain cancelled on March 24 and 31.
3. 08301/08302 Sambalpur-Banaswadi-Sambalpur Special train will be cancelled from Sambalpur on March 18 and 25 and from Banaswadi on March 19 and 26.
4. 08407/08408 Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad-Bhubaneswar Special will be cancelled from Bhubaneswar on March 19 and 26 and from Secunderabad on March 20 and 27.
5. 08403/08404 Puri-Santragachi-Puri Special will be cancelled from Puri on March 20 and 27 and from Santragachi on March 21st 28.
According to the department, more trains maybe cancelled if required depending on the passenger turnout.
