Puri: In the wake of the novel coronavirus threat, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Thursday announced closure of Jagannath Temple here for general public from Friday till March 31.
Briefing mediapersons here, chief administrator, SJTA, Krishan Kumar said that the restrictions have been imposed for the safety of the devotees. However, the sevayats will be allowed inside the temple to perform the daily rituals of the Lords.
He said the temple administration will have a meeting with the sevayats about the compensation to be given to them during this period.
“The temple administration has apprised the district collector of its decision in this regard and the other precautionary measures the temple administration is planning to take up later,” he added.
