New Delhi: Three more persons tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in India on Saturday, taking the case count in the country to 34.
“Two cases have been reported from Ladakh with travel history to Iran while one case has come in from Tamil Nadu with travel history to Oman. All the cases are stable,” said a Union Health Ministry release.
The Ministry further said that more that 150 people, who had come in contact with two American nationals who had tested positive for coronavirus in Bhutan and had toured various Assam, Mumbai and Kolkata, have been put under Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).
Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases has risen worldwide to more than 1,00,000 with Iran, Germany, South Korea and Italy recording their biggest one-day increase in cases.
South Korea reported 93 new COVID-19 cases from late Saturday to Sunday, taking the total to 7,134 in the country.
With the number of cases jumping by 21 overnight, New York governor declared a state of emergency on Saturday. Two more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 in Washington, taking the nationwide toll to 19.
With coronavirus continuing to spread across Italy, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Sunday announced that the entire region of Lombardy and a number of provinces in other regions have been put under lockdown.
So far, 3,500 have died because of the deadly disease across 95 nations and territories.
