Hyderabad: An Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court on Sunday sent former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to 14 days of judicial remand in an alleged corruption case.
He was arrested yesterday by the Andhra Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for allegedly playing a key role in the Rs 371-crore skill development scam case.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief has been accused of acting as ‘principal conspirator’ in carrying out a scam under the guise of Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC).
During Naidu’s stint as CM, from 2014 to 2019, the Andhra government partnered with German engineering giant Siemens to set up the APSSDC project.
The state government released Rs 371 crore for the project though Siemens did not invest any amount.
Naidu was arrested under IPC sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 465 (forgery). Andhra Pradesh CID also invoked Prevention of Corruption Act against him.
