India slipped six places to 86th among 180 countries in the corruption perception index (CPI) list in 2020.
Transparency International, which released the list for last year on Thursday, ranks countries as per public sector corruption as perceived by experts and business people.
India scored 40 on a scale of 0 to 100, where 0 is highly corrupt and 100 very clean.
“India was ranked 80th out of 180 countries in 2019. The CPI score for India is same as the previous year,” the index said.
New Zealand and Denmark were ranked joint first with scores of 88 each, while Somalia and South Sudan brought up the rear at 179th position with scores of 12 apiece.
