Cotton Masks 99% Effective In Blocking Coronavirus Particles: Study



New Delhi: Face masks made of cotton can reduce transmission of coronavirus, a study by McMaster University in Canada claims.

Since the virus most likely gets spread through coughing, speaking and sneezing, the cotton masks which are four layere

d can retain the particles released in the form of droplets.

It can block all the aerosol-sized particles by 99 per cent and even stop the same from releasing it into the environment, the study further said.

Besides, a three-layered mask made of cotton can also prevent surface contamination by 99 per cent, and is effective in reducing bacteria recovered from aerosol-sized particles by 88 to 99 per cent, it added.
