Bargarh: Two persons were arrested and a huge quantity of cough syrup seized from them during a special operation conducted by the police in Odisha’s Bargarh district, police said on Sunday.
A total of 2,160 bottles of cough syrup were seized from an auto-rickshaw near farmers’ market in Bargarh. Two persons were arrested for illegally transporting the cough syrup.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police personnel carried out a special operation and intercepted the autorickshaw and found the cough syrup.
The arrested accused were identified as Ganesh Nag and Sambhu Lohan of Bargarh town, Additional Superintendent of Police T K Mohanty told reporters.
Four plastic jars containing cough syrup, two strips of Nitrosene-10, 15 plastic glasses, one mobile phone, and the autorickshaw were seized by the police.
The accused persons are being interrogated and further investigation is in progress.
