Bargarh: With the arrest of three persons, police on Saturday claimed to have busted an illegal cough syrup racket in Odisha’s Bargarh district. Bargarh Town police have seized 8380 bottles of Corex cough syrup during a special drive.
The racket was unearthed when a police team carried out raid at the premises of the accused persons. The police have seized 70 cases of Corex cough syrup containing 8380 bottles, according to Bargarh SP Prahlad Sahai Meena.
While three persons were arrested by the police in connection with the illegal trade, further investigation is in progress to ascertain the involvement of others in the racket.
The accused have been identified as Siddharth Kumar Nayak and Purna Chandra Behera of Cuttack and Laxmidhar Meher of Gangadhar Nagar in Bargarh. The arrested persons are being interrogated to gather more information of their network.
