Puri: Twelve cough syrup (Corex ) peddlers, including two main suppliers, have been arrested in Odisha’s Puri district in the last 24 hours.
According to police sources, 2,149 bottles of cough syrup worth Rs 2,36,390 and a motorcycle were seized from the possession.
While five of those arrested belong to different areas under Baseli Sahi police limits, three are from Kumbharpada, and two from Sea Beach area of the town. Another two persons from Sea Beach and Kumbharpada areas were arrested on charges of extortion, the sources added.
The accused have booked under relevant Sections of the IPC and Drugs and Cosmetic Act and remanded to judicial custody.
