Bhubaneswar: Nayapalli police here on Tuesday arrested a couple for allegedly brutally assaulting an 11-year-old girl, who was working as a domestic help at their place.
The arrested have been identified as Bibhuti Patsani and Sonali Patsani of Kaimatia under Info Valley police limits in Odisha capital.
Notably, the girl was rescued by police and Childline officials from Salia Sahi with multiple injury marks on Tuesday. She was allegedly thrown from a scooter by a person around 4 pm. She was admitted to Capital Hospital, where doctors found her with multiple fractures and injury marks on her entire body, director Childline Benudhar Senapati said.
She informed that the landlord of the house where her parents stay had employed her in another house as a domestic help three months back. And her employer, his wife and son assaulted her with an iron rod and sticks at the slightest mistake. When she was unable to get up after being assaulted on Tuesday morning, her employer brought her in a scooter to Salia Sahi and threw her there, he added.
The duo was arrested on basis of a complaint lodged by Childline counsellor Itishree Das. “We are questioning the minor son of the accused and efforts are on to apprehend the person who had engaged the girl in the Patsani household,” a police officer said.
