Nayagarh: A couple, who tested positive for COVID-19, allegedly committed suicide in their house at Godimada village in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Thursday.
They have been identified as Bhikari Patra and wife Jyoshna Patra.
According to sources, the couple had gone to meet their COVID positive son who stays in Puri. However, after returning to the village Jyoshna tested positive for COVID-19 on April 26 and her husband the next day.
On Thursday morning (April 29), some villagers knocked the door of Patra’s house but there was not response. When they entered the from the backyard, the neighbours found the couple hanging from the ceiling.
They informed Rampur police who reached the spot and made arrangements for their cremation as per COVID guidelines. They were cremated on Friday.
