Couple Critical After Murderous Attack By Youth In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: A man and his wife were critically injured after a murderous attack mounted by a youth at their house in Mancheswar area of Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the attacker barged into the house of the couple at Kimbhira slum in Pandra locality under the jurisdiction of Mancheswar police station in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The youth, stated to be in an inebriated state, took out a razor and attacked the couple in a brutal manner before they could figure out what was happening. He fled the scene after inflicting grievous injuries to the couple.

Hearing the scream, locals rescued the injured couple and rushed the two to the Capital hospital. The two were later stated to have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where the condition of the man, identified as Satyaghana Swain, was stated to be critical.

While the exact reason behind the attack mounted by the youth is yet to be ascertained, a failed love affair is stated to have triggered the incident.

After getting information, a team of personnel from Mancheswar police station visited the site and launched an investigation into the incident. Further details are awaited.
