Bhubaneswar: A couple from Odisha’s Dhenkanal district reportedly died of electrocution after coming in contact with live electricity wire in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
According to sources, Duryodhan Mahant of Ragadasahi under Mahabiroad police station in Kamakhyanagar police station of the district was working as a driver in Chhattisgarh. He was staying in a rented house with his wife Bharati Mahant after their marriage recently.
Bharati had gone to roof top to put some wet clothes to dry on a wire when she accidentally came in contact with a live electricity wire. As she cried out aloud, Duryodhan rushed to her help.
In the process of heling his wife, Duryodhan also got electrocuted and the couple lost sense. Their neighbours rushed them to the local hospital but the doctors declared the couple brought dead.
The bodies of Duryodhan and Bharati reached Ragadashi in an ambulance on Sunday when their family performed the last rites, the sources said.
