Cuttack: A couple jumped into river Mahanadi near Jobra on Friday. On being informed by some locals, fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and rescued them.
The couple was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Police said the woman had sustained minor injuries. She had first jumped into the river and her husband dived in to rescue her. The two were drowning when they were rescued by police and fire brigade.
Eyewitnesses said the two had heated exchanges before she jumped into the river. The cause behind suicide bid was not immediately known. The identity of the couple is yet to be ascertained.
Police have registered a case and investigation is on.
