Kendujhar: In a tragic road accident, a couple was killed after a speeding truck rammed into their bike near Dhurpada under Town Police Station limits in Odisha’s Kendujhar district on Wednesday.
According to information, the two were travelling on a motorcycle when a speeding truck coming from behind dashed against their two-wheeler. The impact was so severe that both riders came under the truck. The woman was reportedly dragged for about 200 meters. Both of them reportedly died on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Kanhu Charan Mohanta and his wife Janaki Mohanta, residents of the Jagamohan area under Telkoi block in Kendujhar district.
After receiving information, a team from Kendujhar Town Police Station reached the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination.
The truck involved in the collision fled the spot immediately after the accident. Police have registered a case and initiated a search operation to track down the fleeing vehicle and driver, sources said.
