Balasore: In a tragic incident, a man and his wife were killed and their 12-year-old daughter sustained critical injuries after the wall of their house collapsed at a village in Basta area of Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place at Mahadev Sarai village under the jurisdiction of Basta police station in the district in the early hours when the victims were asleep.
The deceased have been identified as Pitha Murmu and his wife, Lakshmi Murmu. The family members got buried under the debris as the wall suddenly caved in.
Hearing their cries, villagers rushed to the site and managed to rescue the three family members. The family members were immediately taken to Basta Hospital.
However, doctors declared the couple dead on arrival. Their daughter, who sustained grievous injuries, is undergoing treatment. Her condition is stated to be critical.
