Couple Killed, Minor Son Injured In Road Accident In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: A couple died while their minor sustained serious injuries in a road accident in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Wednesday evening.

According to sources, the accident took place when Aniruddha Jena of Purana village under Salipur police limits in the district was riding the bike while his wife Ritali Jena and their 4-year-old son were riding pillion.

They were returning home from Sakhigopal in Puri district in the evening when a speeding truck hit their bike on Cuttack-Chandbali road near Nrusingha Bazar under Jagatpur police limits.

As three of them fell down sustaining critical injuries, the locals rescued them to a private hospital in the city. But the doctors in the hospital declared both husband and wife dead on arrival. Their son was shifted to private hospital after his condition deteriorated, the sources said.

On being informed, a team from Jagatpur police station went to the spot and started investigation. They have registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace the truck driver who fled after the accident.
