Bhubaneswar: A husband-wife duo were arrested on Thursday evening for allegedly duping atleast 15 people of altogether ₹50 lakh via Facebook.
Police sources said Tanaya Ganga (25) and her husband Muralidhar Altia (29) of Laigaon area in Boudh district would create fake identities on Facebook and ask people for money on various pretexts. They asked for money from a constable to help him pursue an MBBS course. The constable lodged a complaint with the police after realising he had been duped.
The police conducted raids at many places and caught the couple from Laxmisagar area in Bhubaneswar. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime.
